About the Hug Lady
Kim Snyder lives in Cleveland, OH and has a huge heart for the police and a desire to see restoration between the community and law enforcement officials and to bring racial reconciliation.
Several weeks before the Republican National Convention 2016 (RNC) as racial tensions began to rise across the Nation, Kim felt led to pray for protection for police officers and that racism would end. As a tangible way of showing her support for the police in her city she loaded up her car with Krispy Kreme donuts and thank you notes and set off to visit the local police precincts, where she passed out donuts and encouraging words. Kim told the police she would be in downtown Cleveland during the RNC to pray for them and stand between them and the protesters.
In preparation for the RNC Kim ordered 4 t-shirts that said “Free Hugs”, so she would have one for every day of the RNC. During the RNC which was Monday through Thursday July 18-23, 2016, Kim was there 8-12 hours every day with her “Free Hugs” t-shirt on hugging and praying for hundreds of law enforcement officers and others that attended.

Many of the local Cleveland police remembered her as the Donut Lady, but soon Kim was nicknamed the Hug Lady. After a while law enforcement officers were taking their picture with Kim and thanking her for being a calming force in downtown Cleveland.
Kim brought a lot of peace by calmly engaging and talking with people about why they were there and their hopes and dreams. She would always end the conversation by asking them if she could hug them. No one ever refused a hug. There were intense situations, but love always won. The police thanked Kim for getting involved and doing things they couldn’t do.
During the Milwaukee and Charlotte riots, South LA, and New York City protests, in late 2016, Kim found herself right in the middle of everything, hugging people, bringing hope, defusing angry environments and encouraging the police. She has picked up the nickname “Hug Lady”.
Today, Kim is on fire for city transformation. She has developed working relationships with political and community leaders and has been cultivating relationships with churches, and citizens in Cleveland. Kim’s vision is to bring healing to those hurting in the community and then to ultimately restore relationship between citizens and the police and bring racial reconciliation.

Donate to the Hug Lady
Kim spends many days out of her week in Cleveland, taking meals to individuals who have lost loved ones because of city violence, building relationships with community leaders and the the police over coffee and meals, and taking donuts into police precincts to bring encouragement. All of this and more takes time, energy and resources. Would you consider supporting Kim either financially and/or through prayer?
